The son of a Chicago meat packer, William Marhoefer attributes much of his works influence to early childhood memories in the stockyards, meat packing plants, slaughterhouses, and gritty locations like Maxwell Street and Riverview Amusement Park. William's mother, a former beauty pageant winner, offers a counter-balance and influence in his work. The artist has created an alluring suite of strange and playful characters.

Ashtrays to Art Live Auction

On January 1, 2008, all bars and restaurants in Chicago became officially smoke free. In an effort to utilize hundreds of useless ashtrays and raise money for a local charity, chef/owner Susan Goss of West Town Tavern and The Architrouve gallery collected ashtrays from West Town bars and restaurants to be used in an innovative art exhibition, "Ashtrays to Art."

Callisto Ensemble Concert

On Tuesday, January 8 The Architrouve was the set for a wonderful live performance by the Callisto Ensemble.

Founded in 2003, the Callisto Ensemble erases boundaries between antique and modern music. The ensemble members, violinists Stefan Hersh and Robert Waters, violist Roger Chase, and cellist Julian Hersh, bring contemporary music to life alongside passionate performances of standard masterpieces.

The Architrouve Synaesthesia: Wine, Music, & Art Part 1

Synaesthesia at The Architrouve was an event is designed to stimulate multiple senses in order to create heightened awareness and an enlightened understanding of the relationship between Wine, Music, and Visual Art. Internationally acclaimed Saxophone player Frank Catalano matched his music to the gallery ambience and current art exhibition "This Side of Hope" (a group show by Michael Genovese, Jon Lowenstein, and Carlos J Ortiz) and Sommelier Jeremy Quinn paired specific wines to the music.
